More Flash stupidity. This time it’s almost a game. Try out Move the Schmoo, and then live with the painful regret over the time you just wasted for the rest of your life.

I created a virtual head in Flash that can be manipulated in various ways. It’s my first serious attempt at using actionscript and interactivity in Flash.
It’s that time of year again… Easter Time! Please go and check out Easter Fun, a site that I helped put together last year. While you are there, don’t forget to check out The Stations of the Cross in Pixel Vision for a teeny, tiny, pixel-sized rendition of the passion.
Ever since I taught at the University of Wisconsin, I have maintained a web site for my drawing classes. The site has bounced around during the years. This weekend, after updating many of the pages, I have relocated my Life Drawing Pages. No more pop ups, no more slow connections, just pure educational fun.
I just got back from California and, oh, the sites I saw! One of which was the movie Zardoz, which I have reviewed for your enjoyment. I have also posted pictures of my studio workspace in my art section.
I’ve tweaked the look of the site here and there and have added a new image to my art gallery. I have also began creating a link page dedicated to my friends, colleagues and former classmates.
Starting today, if you are looking at this page with a non-webstandards based browser it will look like a jumbled mess. I have decided to join the Webstandards.org Browser Upgrade Initiative by making this site take advantage of Cascading Stylesheets, JavaScript and other goodies that help separate form from content. What does this mean? It means that now anyone with an HTML 4.0/CSS-1 compliant browser, be it a desktop, cellular phone, or a microwave, will be able to access the content of my site.
There are still some problems with standards compliance in IE for windows (which is the browser I mainly use). Because of these problems I am still using a table to lay out the main content area of my site. I tried using a left-floating <div> tag to make my monsters sit to the left of the text, but the text kept jumping below the illustrations depending on how wide I would stretch my browser window. It seemed like every other pixel wider would make it jump back and forth. Also, I downloaded Opera 5 to see how my site would look in that browser. All in all it looked okay, there are some major problems with hovering colors on my links which I can’t explain. All in all I think the site is working well in it’s new skin.
There’s a new Fun Stuff posting up.
Thank heaven for permalink! I did a search on my name and come across my old web page from back when I lived in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. I no longer have FTP access to the server with the pages on it so I can’t delete any embarrassing comments or bad design decisions I made have made back in ’98. The one section that still holds up as a classic for the ages is my old Planet Pimp Records page! A word of warning, it’s a very slow server.
UPDATE: Well the link finally is dead. Here it is for posterity’s sake: http://homepage.davesworld.net/~rgomez/planetp/index.html
I’ve added a new section to my music section. Now I have a place to vent about all thing music which I hate. My flagship article in this new section is a critque of sucky eTailor, CDUniverse.
